Authorship Criteria

Authorship Criteria

The International Journal of Economics Development Research (IJEDR) follows the authorship recommendations and ethical guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE). The journal is committed to maintaining transparency, accountability, and integrity in scholarly publishing, particularly in the fields of economics, business, management, finance, entrepreneurship, and development studies.

All individuals listed as authors must have made significant intellectual contributions to the research and must take responsibility for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of the published work.

Who Qualifies as an Author

An individual may be recognized as an author only if they meet all four of the following criteria:

  1. Substantial Contribution: Made significant contributions to the conception or design of the research, or to the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of research data.

  2. Manuscript Preparation: Participated in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content.

  3. Final Approval: Reviewed and approved the final version of the manuscript before publication.

  4. Accountability: Agreed to be accountable for all aspects of the research, ensuring that questions concerning the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.

All authors must satisfy these criteria regardless of their academic position, institutional affiliation, or financial contribution.

Contributors Who Do Not Meet the Authorship Criteria

Individuals who have contributed to the research but do not meet all four authorship criteria should be recognized in the Acknowledgements section rather than listed as authors.

Such contributions may include:

  • Administrative or technical assistance.

  • Data collection without substantial intellectual involvement.

  • Language editing, proofreading, or manuscript formatting.

  • General academic supervision.

  • Financial support or funding acquisition alone.

  • Provision of research facilities, datasets, or other resources without significant intellectual contribution.

Acknowledgement of individuals must be made with their permission.

Corresponding Author Responsibilities

The corresponding author serves as the primary contact between the authors and the editorial office of the International Journal of Economics Development Research (IJEDR) throughout the submission, peer-review, revision, and publication processes.

The corresponding author is responsible for:

  1. Ensuring that all listed authors meet the journal's authorship criteria.

  2. Confirming that all authors have reviewed and approved the submitted manuscript.

  3. Ensuring that no eligible contributors have been excluded from the author list.

  4. Communicating editorial decisions, reviewer comments, and revision requests to all co-authors.

  5. Ensuring the accuracy of author names, institutional affiliations, and contact information.

  6. Coordinating responses to questions concerning research integrity, ethical compliance, and post-publication matters.

The corresponding author's valid email address, preferably an institutional email address, must be provided in the manuscript.

Gift, Guest, and Ghost Authorship

The International Journal of Economics Development Research (IJEDR) strictly prohibits inappropriate authorship practices, including:

  • Gift Authorship: Including individuals as authors solely because of personal relationships, academic positions, or institutional influence without qualifying intellectual contributions.

  • Guest Authorship: Listing prominent researchers or institutional leaders to increase the perceived credibility of a manuscript despite their lack of qualifying contributions.

  • Ghost Authorship: Excluding individuals who have made substantial intellectual contributions to the research or manuscript preparation.

All authorship disputes and suspected misconduct will be evaluated in accordance with applicable COPE guidelines.

Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, including ChatGPT and similar systems, cannot be listed as authors because they cannot assume responsibility or accountability for the accuracy and integrity of scholarly work. Authors remain fully responsible for any AI-assisted content and must disclose the use of such tools in accordance with the journal's applicable AI policy.

Changes to Authorship

The list and order of authors should be finalized before manuscript submission.

Any request to add, remove, or rearrange authors after submission must be submitted by the corresponding author and must include:

  1. A written explanation justifying the proposed authorship change.

  2. Written agreement from all existing authors.

  3. Written consent from any author being added or removed.

  4. An updated author contribution statement, where applicable.

Authorship changes before acceptance may be considered by the editorial office following verification of the supporting documentation.

Authorship changes after acceptance will only be permitted under exceptional circumstances and require approval from the Editor-in-Chief.

The journal reserves the right to suspend manuscript processing while authorship disputes are being investigated. Unresolved disputes may be referred to the authors' affiliated institutions in accordance with COPE guidance.

Author Contribution Statement (CRediT Taxonomy)

To promote transparency and accountability, manuscripts with multiple authors submitted to the International Journal of Economics Development Research (IJEDR) should include an Author Contributions statement before the References section.

Author contributions should be described using the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT), which includes the following roles:

  1. Conceptualization

  2. Methodology

  3. Software

  4. Validation

  5. Formal Analysis

  6. Investigation

  7. Resources

  8. Data Curation

  9. Writing – Original Draft

  10. Writing – Review & Editing

  11. Visualization

  12. Supervision

  13. Project Administration

  14. Funding Acquisition

Authors may be assigned multiple roles based on their actual contributions. However, assignment of a CRediT role does not automatically establish authorship eligibility.

Example of an Author Contribution Statement:

Author A: Conceptualization, Methodology, Formal Analysis, Writing – Original Draft.

Author B: Investigation, Data Curation, Software, Visualization.

Author C: Validation, Supervision, Writing – Review & Editing.

Author D: Project Administration, Funding Acquisition, Writing – Review & Editing.

All authors have read and approved the final version of the manuscript and agreed to be accountable for their respective contributions and the integrity of the research.

Any suspected authorship manipulation, undisclosed contributions, or disputes regarding author eligibility will be handled in accordance with relevant COPE recommendations and the journal's editorial policies.
